About Me
Welcome to my personal website!
I am Dr. Saleema Rehman, a passionate Consultant Obstetrician, and Gynecologist dedicated to providing compassionate healthcare and championing the rights of refugees. I am deeply honored to have received the prestigious UNHCR Nansen Refugee Award for Asia in 2021, recognizing my commitment to improving the lives of those affected by displacement and my exceptional performance as a frontline during the Covid-19 pandemic.
As Afghan Background, I endured the challenges of being a refugee and overcame numerous obstacles to pursue my dream of becoming a doctor. Growing up in Pakistan, I witnessed firsthand the struggles faced by refugees, particularly women and children. Determined to make a difference, I embarked on a remarkable journey of education and resilience.
Belonging to the Turkmen Tribe, where educational opportunities for girls are limited, I am immensely grateful for the unwavering support of my family, particularly my father. He runs a charitable school for refugee children, where I received my initial education. Witnessing the transformative power of education, I became resolute in my mission to empower others through knowledge.
Throughout my career, I have strived to provide comprehensive healthcare to vulnerable populations, especially refugees. As a frontliner during the Covid-19 pandemic, I displayed unwavering dedication, working tirelessly to ensure the well-being of my patients and communities. I faced the immense challenges posed by the pandemic head-on, providing essential medical care while taking necessary precautions to safeguard the health of those I served.
In recognition of my outstanding performance as a frontliner and my enduring commitment to refugee health, I was honored with the UNHCR Nansen Refugee Award for Asia in 2021. This esteemed accolade serves as a testament to my unwavering dedication and the impact of my work.
In addition to my medical endeavors, I am blessed to be married to a supportive Pakistani businessman who shares my passion for assisting refugees in the fields of education and healthcare. Together, we strive to make a meaningful impact and create a brighter future for those seeking refuge and solace.
Through this website, I aim to share my experiences, insights, and initiatives, as well as provide valuable resources for individuals interested in refugee health, education, and empowerment. I invite you to explore further and join me on this extraordinary journey of compassion, resilience, and hope.
Thank you for visiting, and I look forward to connecting with you.
